The two main configurations are centre-pole (traditional, with the supporting pole in the middle) and cantilever (offset pole, so the parasol floats to the side). Here's how to choose:
Centre-Pole Parasols
Best for individual dining tables where the centre of the table is naturally occupied by tableware and arrangements. The pole positions neatly in a weighted base. More economical.
Cantilever Parasols (Recommended for Weddings)
The offset arm means no pole interrupting the table or seating area. Guests have full 360° views of the venue. Required when you're covering lounge areas, dance floors or reception spaces where a centre pole would obstruct the space.
How Many Parasols Do You Need?
As a general rule: 1 × 3m parasol covers 1 dining table (up to 8 guests). 1 × 4m parasol covers 1 large table or a lounge for 8–10. 1 × 5m cantilever can cover 2 adjacent tables or a cocktail lounge for 15–20. For multi-table events, most clients use 1 parasol per 2 tables.
